UPCOMING HIKE & POTLUCK — JUNE 19

We want to thank all of you who attended the first Transition Mill Valley community event at 142 Throckmorton Theater last week. It was a great success! ‘Resilience from the Ground Up!’ was met with great enthusiasm and has generated a noticeable buzz in here in Southern Marin.

The evening offered up more than just a lovingly prepared soup and locally grown salad combo (yum!); it was the first in what we hope to be a regular gathering of citizens from Mill Valley and environs, coming together to respond to climate change and peak oil in a positive, resilient, necessary, intelligent, fun and creative way. Many of you gave us valuable feedback at the event, and we are looking at how some of these ideas could translate into projects: local online bulletin listing activities and resources, food and garden swap, community tool sheds/ workshops, mapping of local resources, and much more.

We need your help growing these inspirations into real community engagements. Please come to our June potluck (or July film event*) to get involved and share your passion.  Our next gathering is coming right up:
Saunter, Haiku and Potluck
Saturday June 19th
2:00PM – 6:00PM

RSVP: transitionmv@gmail.com or phone Kathleen at 707-799-4981.

We will meet at 2pm for an hour stroll on local trails near the 4 corners area of Mill Valley, above Muir woods. Poetic inspiration may strike at any moment so we’ll carry pencils and cards to record short Haiku (remember those from 4th grade?) nuggets to share later (or not). We return to our hosts’ home by 3:30 and potluck begins at 4pm. Let’s return to the conversation that was started last Wednesday night as we share a meal together and expand our Transition Town Circle.

*Save the Date:

Wednesday, July 21st – 142 Throckmorton Theater. A screening of In Transition,  a one-hour film about the Transition Movement, including footage from Transition Initiatives around the world.
